Siemens VAI

SiemensVaiSiemens decided that its Sheffield operation would become the new UK corporate headquarters of its Siemens VAI business. The key element of the project was to move its corporate functions from Christchurch in Dorset to Sheffield. Siemens therefore approached Relocate2Sheffield to assist with this crucial part of the project.

Relocate2Sheffield supported Siemens with:

  • On site presentations on life in Sheffield, cost of living, residential areas etc
  • one to one meetings with employees considering a relocation to Sheffield – helping individuals and their families make a positive and informed choice to move to Sheffield
  • personalised relocation support to those employees who chose to relocate
  • continuous progress updates with Siemens.

In summary Relocate2Sheffield provided invaluable relocation support to 26 key staff. Our bespoke service was instrumental in the large scale relocation, which is highlighted below in just a few of the many excellent testimonials we received.

We’d like to take the opportunity to thank you very much for your help over the past year with our relocation.

In March 2010, we moved our head office from Christchurch near Bournemouth to Sheffield. This called for the relocation of over 20 employees, within a fairly short period of time. The services provided by Relocate2Sheffield far exceeded any of our expectations. Tracy and Rebecca were delightful ladies, who looked after us very well. Their knowledge of the local area, their access to the full network of agencies and their understanding of our requirements, made all the difference. They were able to react quickly to our needs and were totally supportive.

For those relocating, at such an emotional time, their help was truly invaluable. Their involvement was crucial for the success of our relocation plan. We would not hesitate to recommend their services to other companies.

Siemens VAI continue to use our relocation service for new employees moving into the Sheffield region.

Gene DePrez, Chief Innovation Officer – Creative Sheffield

geneIt was important to Creative Sheffield that Relocate2Sheffield were able to offer it’s relocation services to their prospective new Director of Innovation, Gene DePrez and his wife Patty. Coming from the States the potential move was obviously a big undertaking for Gene and Patty and not something they wanted to tackle alone. From the outset Relocate2Sheffield were involved in the process of helping the DePrez’s make an informed decision to move from the States to Sheffield. This involved tours of the city and surrounding areas, pointing out areas that would appeal to the typical lifestyle Gene and Patty enjoyed back home in the States.

Key to their decision was the provision of associated living costs and price bandings for property rentals in different areas; this along with indications of commute times and public transport options ensured the DePrez’s were equipped with enough information to make an informed decision about the move to Sheffield.

Once the DePrez’s made the decision that they would accept the job offer and relocate to Sheffield; the hunt for the right place began!

Relocate2Sheffield had a clear idea of the type of properties and areas that were attractive to Gene and Patty from the information they gained from the initial bespoke questionnaire and tour that took place on their first trip to Sheffield.

Over the next few months whilst arrangements were made for the couple to make the move, Relocate2Sheffield had regular contact with Gene and Patty through regular emails with selections of properties that were hand picked for them. Throughout this process, we began to understand more what Gene and Patty liked and didn’t like so that when the DePrez’s arrived in  Sheffield, we had already completed the background fact finding process.

A full viewing itinerary of properties was set up ready for them to see with us during their first week in the UK. Alongside an appointment to set up a bank account. In the meantime, we ensured they were comfortable in temporary accommodation in a city centre serviced apartment, all which was pre-arranged by us prior to their arrival.

On the first day of viewings the DePrez’s chose their perfect property; a large 2 bedroomed period apartment in a converted Hall with fantastic views of the English countryside and within a 20 minute commute of the city centre.

Within 2 weeks Gene and Patty had moved into their new apartment and their shipped items arrived the following week. This meant that by the time Gene started his new role he already had a place to call home and all the stress of finding a place to live had been dealt with by the team at Relocate2Sheffield.

Along with finding them a place to live we also provided specific information on healthcare, finance, importing pets, visa’s, car rental and purchase, airport pick up, temporary accommodation, furniture advice, local churches, evening classes and colleges.

“Tracy worked with my wife and I when we relocated to Sheffield from the New York / New Jersey area of the US. It was quite a move and change. Tracy was a great resource and helped us find a terrific home and helped us make all the ‘across-the-pond’ adjustments needed. We would recommend her and her company to anyone coming into the South Yorkshire area”.

Gene DePrez, Chief Innovation Officer.

Linnet (UK) Ltd

It was important to the directors that their families settle into the city successfully. In particular, they were very keen to ensure that the schools their children were to attend would be of a high standard and suited to their individual needs. This was of primary importance.

Relocate 2 Sheffield was able to source a selection schools that offered the qualities that the directors had requested. This was achieved by combining the suitability of a school along with its proximity to the new business location, the sort of area the family wished to live in, the type of property they preferred and the budget for their house purchase,

By providing the family with this information and outlining the options open to them, they were able to make a much more informed choice about education for their children and their new lifestyle.

4 COM Ltd

Relocating some of the team from 4Com’s head office in Salisbury was essential to the successful start up of the company in Sheffield.
Although they were to be relocating on a temporary basis, for up to a year, the company were keen to ensure that these key individuals would be able to settle in comfortably and promptly.

All were professional young men and most were less than keen on the idea of living in Sheffield. Each had different budgetary and accommodation requirements.

Following personal meetings with those individuals, Relocate 2 Sheffield was able to put forward some positive images and information about living in Sheffield as well as being able to source suitable accommodation quickly and promptly.

All those who have made the temporary move have been pleasantly surprised at the excellent lifestyle on offer in Sheffield and will be taking a positive report back with them when they eventually return to Salisbury.

Outo Kumpu

Relocate 2 Sheffield, was able to offer support and assistance during the early stages of Outokumpu’s consultation period concerning the relocation of their distribution centre from West Midlands to Sheffield.
Initially a series of presentations were given to the entire workforce at their site in the West Midlands. As well as information and images about Sheffield and the surrounding area, the presentations included a general introduction to local schools, hospitals, amenities, house prices as well as recreational pursuits.

Following this, Relocate 2 Sheffield provided individual interview sessions, again at the West Midlands location, to employees and their spouse/partner.
These sessions allowed the employee to ask questions, in particular any concerns they had about relocating and their requirements for their family and lifestyle. This would typically include moving their children to a new school, finding a home in an area that they liked, the technicalities of moving and house prices in their chosen locality.

Once an employee had made the decision to relocate, Relocate 2 Sheffield was able to support them in their move. Information packs were tailored to individual needs – locations and schools were suggested in line with lifestyle requirements and budgets. Other information, such as the processes and costs involved in moving home were also included.
For some key senior personnel, accompanied visits were provided, including a tour of prospective residential areas as well as the surrounding countryside and Sheffield sights.

The service and support given by Relocate 2 Sheffield made the move to a new life in Sheffield a positive and stress-free experience for the families involved.
